While not located in Portland, Hempfest is a three and a half hour drive from the city. People can come for a day or buy a camping pass and stay on site.
There is live music, demonstrations, speakers about Cannabis legalization and new growing techniques, as well as the history of hemp. There’s also a talent show, giveaways, art and food vendors!

In 2020 the Oregon Growers Cup featured over 300 different strains vying for the win! They also participate in a Growers Cup, where each grower attempts to get the best version of the same Cannabis strain.

Celebrate 420 at Flight Lounge
Flight Lounge has been an Oregon City staple since its opening. The original location was one part lounge and one part brunch spot– two great tastes that taste great together!
Flight lounge is membership only, but membership can be purchased for a mere 10 dollars and comes with a free soft drink each visit. It is important to note that their soda collection available is one of the best around— not just coke and pepsi, but fruit punch and fizzy water. These guys really know what they are doing.
Their last 420 show featured local rap artists and an amazing dinner. While Flight Lounge does a lot of things right– free soft drinks, video games, and bongs for those who request them– what they really excel in is food. Their breakfasts rival even the best Portland brunch restaurant and that is saying something.
Unfortunately, Flight Lounge closed their flagship location in Oregon City. They are currently looking for a new venue closer to Portland. We hope to see them reopen in time for 420, which will surely be a must-attend event!

Questions about 420 Events in Portland, OR
Here are some common Q&A’s about Portland Cannabis events.
Can I smoke Cannabis anywhere I want in Portland, OR?
Technically, no. The law in Portland requires that Cannabis use be limited to private property and residences, Smoking or using cannabis products in public, such as a park or a restaurant, is still considered illegal and can come with a fine of up to 1,000 dollars.
However, it is worth noting that people do smoke on the street in Portland and that drug enforcement laws are notoriously lax. If you don’t want to smoke, edibles and vapes are fairly easy and discreet enough to use anywhere. As for smoking, consider the rules set by tobacco smokers. If you smoke anywhere people would smoke cigarettes, you are probably okay. Just remember the golden rule and don’t be a jerk.
Why doesn’t Portland have Cannabis Cafes like Amsterdam?
This is a good question. It is also a question that does not have a simple answer. Basically, Amsterdam has had a long time to create businesses and licensing around cannabis cafes, whereas Portland has had legal cannabis for less than a decade. Licenses and permits, such as the ones required for bars, need to be created and enforced for locations where patrons intend to use cannabis on site.
With Cannabis still being federally illegal it causes roadblocks, so these licenses must be done through local government. This means they will likely take forever to establish only to be contradictory and confusing when they do.
In addition, America’s ban on smoking tobacco has meant that the majority of building owners will not rent a commercial space to someone who intends to smoke it in. The insurance, fire prevention and cleaning concerns make it an unappealing option for most commercial landlords.
We hope that eventually Portland (and other cities) will have Cannabis Cafes akin to those in the Netherlands, but until then we have to be creative in our legal 420 spaces.
Where can I buy Cannabis products in Portland, OR?
The good news is that while Cannabis Cafes are almost impossible to license and open, Cannabis dispensaries are not. There are hundreds of different dispensaries in Portland, which has one of the highest concentrations of Cannabis dispensaries of any legal city in the USA.
For exceptional selection, special deals, and knowledgable service, visit Urban Farmacy Dispensary!
As one of the oldest dispensaries in the state, with over 500 positive reviews, they are sure to serve you right. You can also order Cannabis Delivery in Portland!
Whether you are a newbie looking to try Cannabis for the first time or an old pro looking for a new way to get high, Portland dispensaries have what you need. You do not need to be an Oregon resident to purchase legal cannabis either– as long as you have a valid government/state ID you should be good to go.
The best is yet to come: the future of 420 friendly Events in Portland
