Due to the many diverse properties, including but not limited to terpenes and cannabinoids, in different strains of marijuana, potency testing for cannabinoids provides only a very basic guide for selecting your dosage of cannabis. We at Urban Farmacy would like to propagate the knowledge that selecting marijuana strains based solely on potency testing numbers can be inaccurate.
Cannabis potency testing is known to have a potential for error of between 10%–30%. That number does not vary by lab, it is simply that testing for cannabinoids is not an exact science at this time. Every person has an endogenous cannabinoid system, the varying effects that cannabis has from one person to the next can largely depend on how the particular combination of cannabinoids in a particular plant interacts with your own cannabinoid system. Furthermore, the terpene content of each cannabis plant is also largely responsible for the varying effects of cannabis.
When consuming edible cannabis, two edibles with the same potency test can yield completely different experiences. Potency testing in edibles should be used only as a basic guide. The potency of edible cannabis products can be more or less bio-available due to varying reasons including but not limited to: added ingredients, differing cannabis and or cannabis extract or concentrate, cooking time and temperature. For this reason we encourage people to start slow when consuming cannabis edibles and be patient while waiting for the effects. Edible cannabis can take up to 2 hours to feel the effects.
All our products are tested for potency, pesticides, moisture content and microbial content. We pride ourselves on providing quality products, grown and made with love, and free of pesticides and microbial contamination. When selecting your cannabis, remember “the nose knows!”
